The Old In and Out- 16

Dr. Schimmel and his co-host Brian Dewan discuss the upcoming Accordion Seminars on July 29, 30 and 31 at Tenri — the title: Walton the Imperial:Crowned. They also discuss Brian’s trip to France, film strips, fromage, fireworks, strippers and The Elks Club. Dr. Schimmel performs Don’t Let them take Checkers away from his Off-Broadway show, Dick Deterred in collaboration with David Edgar. Brian performs BPOE (Best People on Earth) in honor of the The Elks.

The Old In and Out- 15

Dr. Schimmel and his co-host, Brian Dewan, discuss the Royal Wedding and the killing of Bin Laden. They also express the desire to return to a more innocent times using the accordion as the oracle. The accordion, with its built in ironic duality can balance naive with knowing. Dr Schimmel plays this premiere of Naif Variations for 12 bass pre-war Hohner accordion amd Brian Dewan premieres his solo voice version of Go get the Ax in honor of Mothers Day.

The Old In and Out- 14

Dr.Schimmel and his co-host, Brian Dewan, discuss new events in the Catskills including a new community radio show as well as some up-coming performances.
Dr. Schimmel talks about his upcoming performances in Wozzeck at the Metropolitan Opera on April 6, 9 13 and 16 and performs his new radio opera, Wozzeck the Winner. Brian performs Cool Water and they both discuss the song, Deck of Cards. The show ends with a short promo on the upcoming Seminars on July 29, 30 and 31 at Tenri titled Walton the Imperial: Crowned. Brian will close the weekend with Candy bars for Elvis.

The Old In and Out- 13

This is the first WS accordion radio show of 2011. Dr. Schimmel and his co-host Brian Dewan discuss the use of the Swarmatron, an instrument invented by Brian and his cousin Leon. The Swarmatron is used in the soundtrack of the Academy Award contender The Socal Network. There is a feature article on the Cousins Dewan in the last issue of The New Yorker – Talk of the Town.  Dr.Schimmel premieres his new work, All Sunday Night, for voice and melodica and Brian performs Kennedy for Me, in honor of Presidents Day.

Dr. William Schimmel and co-host Brian Dewan discuss Brian’s house on stilts, his upcoming Christmas show, Covered Bridges, Dr. Schimmel performs his CONCERTO (followed by a slight disconnect}, Brian and Bill discuss it in relation to Spectral Music (sounding electronic but not)and a single accordion ironically sounding orchestral. Also discussed was the Hammond Organ in relationship to Roger Sessions and other electronic devices as well.
